About

Server History
Zeb is an Everquest Emulator server. The server started as a project between three friends in the winter of 2005. A dedicated server and official name for the server was chosen in the spring of 2006 and the first Zeb server was born (Known originally as the Zebuxoruk Server). A lot of people pitched in as the server started to gain popularity. Unfortunately in the middle of 2007 the server had to be taken down due to the host moving to a location without ample bandwidth to run such a popular server. The server came back starting with a short beta period to implement some changes and launched officially on 02/15/08. The server was renamed the Zeb Server August 2008. As always the server is hosted on a dedicated computer and maintained by Jibbatwinkers.

The Zeb Ventrilo Server

Thanks to continued contributions from the players on Zeb we are able to keep a Ventrilo server up. Ventrilo is a voice over IP program (like Teamspeak if you are familiar with that). The Zeb Ventrilo server allows you to talk to other Zeb players while you are online or off, get help, and have more fun.

To set it up:

  1. Head to the Official Ventrilo Download page.
  2. Under “Client Programs” choose your download. Most likely you will want “Windows i386 - 32bit” if you are running standard Windows (instead of 64 bit windows, note: if you have a 64bit processor that does not mean you are using 64 bit windows)!
  3. Run the .exe and install like you would any other program, set up some shortcuts.
  4. When you run the program click on the “->” Next to “User Name”. Click “New”, type in your “Zeb Server character name” (You can use whatever name you like but your in-game name is best for convenience to the other players.
  5. Click on the “->” Next to “Server” and click “New”. Name it whatever you want “ZebServer” is fine. Fill in the fields:
    Hostname or IP: 69.12.87.171
    Port Number: 2315
You can leave password and default channel blank. Hit ok.
  6. Click CONNECT on the right hand side!

If you don’t have a microphone you won’t be able to talk to anyone. Most gamers prefer headsets so they don’t have to lean into a table top mic. I’ve been burning through microphones for years! I’ve been a fool and bought “gamer headsets” a few times for $40-60 and the microphone quality is usually terrible and they don’t last me more than a few months. The following headset is one I recommend, it’s really cheap and I’ve been using it for over a year pretty heavily and the microphone quality is awesome (just join vent and talk to me, Jibbatwinkers, for a demo). If you get it through the link below it will also throw 2 or 3 dollars my way for server upgrades so definitely consider this if you are looking to buy a microphone!
